Program Overview

As one of three specializations under the Master of Arts program, the Documentary Film track prepares creative practitioners and intellectuals capable of contributing to the cultural and artistic landscape locally and internationally through documentary cinema. Students engage with both academic inquiry and artistic production, situating documentary practice within Palestinian cultural identity.

The program is grounded in high-quality academic instruction, supported by a research and creative environment that allows students to develop critical thinking, refine technical skills, and produce works with meaningful cultural and social impact.

Program Mission

Artistic Creativity and Innovation: enabling students to produce documentary works that reflect Palestinian cultural identity while engaging with contemporary filmmaking trends.

Scientific Research and Critical Understanding: developing students' abilities to conduct in-depth academic and analytical research that examines cultural and social phenomena through cinema.

Community Engagement and Cultural Responsibility: preparing graduates capable of leading film and cultural initiatives that preserve Palestinian heritage and promote it locally and internationally.

Career Opportunities

Working in documentary filmmaking, television programs, and film and television production companies as directors, cinematographers, editors, or independent producers.

  • Teaching in specialized centers and institutes, as well as in schools and Palestinian universities, to develop students' filmmaking and audiovisual skills.
  • Research and production in film studies: conducting analytical studies on documentary techniques, visual storytelling, cultural documentation, and the social impact of film.
  • Participating in the production of innovative film projects that combine artistic creativity with cultural documentation and engaging in local and international film festivals to strengthen the Palestinian cinematic scene.
  • Developing educational and community initiatives that integrate film with local culture, aiming to preserve heritage and enhance cultural awareness across generations.
