Dar al-Kalima University

The Library of Dar al-Kalima University, established in 2006, is an academic library specialized in arts, culture, and design, with a strong focus on visual arts, cinema, music, theatre, architecture, and cultural tourism, reflecting the university's distinctive academic and cultural identity. It serves as a central knowledge hub that supports teaching, research, and creativity, while providing a modern learning environment that encourages critical thinking and knowledge production.

The library holds approximately 13,000 books and reference materials covering most academic disciplines offered at the university, including undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Its collection includes a wide range of up-to-date scholarly resources such as specialized encyclopedias, academic dictionaries, research guides, and core reference works in arts, culture, and design, in addition to a valuable collection of rare books that enrich its intellectual and cultural heritage. The library also preserves Master's theses produced by graduate students, which are accessible to researchers and students to promote academic exchange, research development, and knowledge dissemination.

Classification System
The library follows the Library of Congress Classification (LCC) system, ensuring accurate classification and efficient access to information. It is fully automated using modern integrated library systems and provides an Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), structured circulation services, reserve shelf services, reference assistance, copying, electronic research, and printing.

The library subscribes to several international databases, most notably Research4Life, which provides access to more than one million scholarly resources, including peer-reviewed books, academic articles, research papers, and theses. This significantly enhances the quality of education and research, and reflects the library's commitment to open knowledge, academic excellence, and lifelong learning.

Library Services

Lending

  • Students — 10 days, renewable for 7
  • Staff — 10 days, renewable for 7
  • Faculty members — 30 days, renewable for 15

Maximum 4 books. References may not leave the library.

Reference Service

Librarians answer queries via phone, in person, or other channels. Current awareness service regularly informs patrons of new acquisitions, periodicals, and related research.

Reserve Shelf

  • Closed reserve — in-library use only
  • Open reserve — overnight loan, returned before 10:00 AM

Max 2 books, reserved for 7 days only.

Photocopying

Photocopying machine available in the reading room. Purchase an electronic card to use it.

Electronic Research

Computer terminals are available in the library to conduct scientific electronic research.

Printing

Print from any library computer to the printer for a small fee per page.
